  1. I am running Trumpet Winsock over a SLIP connection and have noticed this
  2. interesting behavior if I run a client BEFORE I have run the Winsock and 
  3. established a SLIP connection with my Internet Service Provider.

  5. If I run WS_FTP, HGOPHET, EUDORA or WINWAIS before I run the Winsock,
  6. all three programs fire up the Winsock fairly nicely.  Then when I close the
  7. client, all three close the Winsock.  This is nice because I am billed for
  8. connect time and it is nice to have the client start and stop the Winsock.

  10. The surprise came when I executed Trumpet News before I ran the Winsock.
  11. I thought that Trumpet News would be at least as well behaved as the other
  12. clients with Trumpet Winsock, but this is not so.  If I execute Trumpet News
  13. before I run the Winsock, I get a GPF and the system hangs.

  15. Am I missing something?  Is there some simple explanation why Trumpet
  16. News is not as well behaved with Trumpet Winsock as several other clients?
